NIMBUSINDEX
Independent cloud-outage data for parametric insurance.
NimbusIndex measures cloud outages from outside the provider and keeps a signed, verifiable record you and your capacity provider can audit.
What we measure
Trigger v1: AWS us-east-1 regional control-plane outages.
• Independent probing: We check AWS's regional control-plane APIs from three separate probe networks. An outage is recorded only when at least two of the three agree.
• Tamper-evident records: Every day's results go into a signed, timestamped file, so anyone can check that the record hasn't been changed after the fact. Any time we couldn't measure is recorded as "unknown," never filled in.
• Alerts: Best-effort email alert, typically within 15 minutes of a confirmed outage.
• Scope: v1 covers regional control-plane outages. Failures confined to a single availability zone are out of scope for v1.
Who it's for
• Parametric MGAs building or pricing cloud-downtime and business-interruption cover, who need outage data that comes from a neutral third party.
• Capacity providers and reinsurers who want to check, on their own, a trigger they're backing.
Backtest coming soon
We're putting together a backtest of historical us-east-1 incidents against Trigger v1. Request early access to get it when it's ready.
